This International Standard specifies the structurefor a three-letter alphabetic code and an equivalentthree-digit numeric code for the representation ofcurrencies and funds. For those currencies havingminor units, it also shows the decimal relationshipbetween such units and the currency itself.This International Standard also establishes pro-cedures for a Maintenance Agency, and specifiesthe method of application for codes.This International Standard is intended for use inany application of trade, commerce and banking,where currencies and, where appropriate, funds arerequired to be described. It is designed to beequally suitable for manual users and for thoseemploying automated systems.
