The vocabulary is limited to those terms in generaluse throughout the rubber industry.It does not define terms intended for particularrubber products, some of which are given in thevocabulary standards listed in the Bibliography.It does not define terms that are generallyunderstood or adequately defined in other readilyavailable sources such as general dictionaries.The terms are listed in the alphabetical order of theEnglish terms, with a French index to the correspondingEnglish terms attached. Some terms haveparenthetical information added to indicate aspecific limitation of the term to a particular field, forexample “?rubber latex?”. When a term has one ormore synonyms, the synonymous terms follow thepreferred term.Deprecated terms are indicated by “(deprecated)”.The abbreviation “cf.” indicates that the user mayrefer to another term (not a synonym) whichcontains information on a closely related area.Symbols are included under their full descriptions,but for convenience they are also listed separatelyat the end of the main text.For convenience, standards and other relevantsources referred to in this vocabulary are listed inthe first section of the Bibliography and vocabulariesrelating to finished rubber products are listedin the second section.
