This International Standard specifies requirements for high-purity cadmium coatings produced by physicalvapour deposition on iron, steel, and other substrates. It provides test methods to determine that therequirements have been met, and a method for designating the cadmium and chromate conversion coatingsand other supplementary treatments.Cadmium coatings are not suitable for production items that will reach a temperature of 225 °C or higher inservice, or that will come into contact with other parts that will reach that temperature.
