This part of ISO 19069 establishes a system of designation for polypropylene (PP) thermoplasticmaterial, which can be used as the basis for specifications.The types of polypropylene plastics are differentiated from each other by a classification system basedon appropriate levels of the designatory propertiesa) tensile modulus of elasticity,b) impact strength, andc) melt mass-flow rate (MFR),and on information about basic polymer parameters, intended application and/or method of processing,important properties, additives, colorants, fillers, and reinforcing materials.This part of ISO 19069 is applicable to all polypropylene homopolymers and to copolymers of propylenewith a content of other 1-olefinic of less than 50 % (m/m), as well as blends of polymers containing atleast 50 % (m/m) of aforementioned polymers.It applies to materials ready for normal use in the form of powder, granules, or pellets and to materialsunmodified or modified by colorants, additives, fillers, etc.This part of ISO 19069 does not apply to propylene-based rubber.It is not intended to imply that materials having the same designation give necessarily the sameperformance. This part of ISO 19069 does not provide engineering data, performance data, or data onprocessing conditions which can be required to specify a material for a particular application and/ormethod of processing.If such additional properties are required, they shall be determined in accordance with the test methodsspecified in ISO 19069-21), if suitable.In order to specify a thermoplastic material for a particular application or to ensure reproducibleprocessing, additional requirements can be given in data block 5 (see 3.1).
