This International Standard defines a code for the designation of tool holders for internal turning (boring bars) operations with cylindrical shank and standardized dimension, f, for indexable inserts (see ISO 5609) in order to simplify orders and specifications for such tools.The designation of turning and copying tool holders and of cartridges for indexable inserts with rectangular shank is given in ISO 5608.
